Delhi liquor scam case: ED summons BRS leader K Kavitha again for questioning today

New Delhi: Today, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned K Kavitha, BRS leader for questioning in the Delhi capital Excise Policy case in Delhi, according to the information. She was summoned by the ED over his alleged involvement in some irregularities in this scam case. According to information, more than a dozen people have also been summoned who were involved in cash transactions in the scam.

In the month of March, she was interrogated several times at the ED headquarters in the month of March and had to surrender his mobile phones to the federal agency.

It has been alleged that the Delhi government’s 2021-22 excise policy for licensing liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favored some dealers who paid bribes for it, an allegation the ruling party in the national capital has accused Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly denied this.

The policy was later repealed and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation, following which the ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Kavitha, who is a member of the Telangana Legislative Council, was questioned by the CBI in December 2022.

During its investigation, the ED had reportedly recorded the statement of Buchibabu, an accountant associated with Kavitha, in which he had said that “there was a political understanding” between Kavitha and the Chief Minister (Arvind Kejriwal) and Deputy Chief Minister (Manish Sisodia).

In that process, K Kavitha also met Vijay Nair on March 19-20, 2021. Kavitha has claimed that she has done nothing wrong and accused the BJP-led Center of using the ED because the saffron party could not enter Telangana through the backdoor.
