Delhi-NCR Schools Bomb Threat: Emails Traced to Russian Domain

Several schools in Delhi-NCR have been rattled by bomb threat emails received on Wednesday morning, prompting the Delhi Police to launch extensive searches and prompting some schools to temporarily close as a precautionary measure.

Bomb Threat Investigation:

Over 100 schools in Delhi-NCR were targeted in simultaneous bomb threats, originating from emails with domain names traced back to Russia, signaling potential international involvement, according to preliminary investigations. Despite thorough searches by the police and bomb squads, no suspicious items have been discovered, leading authorities to consider the threats as likely hoaxes.

Dark Web Usage Suspected:

Sources suggest that the use of VPNs and the dark web cannot be ruled out in these threats. Security agencies are examining the IP addresses contained in the email headers, with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre actively involved in verifying and investigating further. The language used in the emails appears to be Russian, indicating a potential international connection.

Organized Conspiracy Suspected:

Investigative agencies suspect that the threatening emails were orchestrated by an organization rather than an individual, given their coordinated nature and almost identical content sent to multiple schools simultaneously. The IP address associated with the emails has been traced back to a server located abroad, heightening concerns of international involvement. Interpol’s assistance is being sought to unravel the complexities of this conspiracy.

Interpol’s Assistance Sought:

With suspicions surrounding the server associated with the IP address being abroad, the Delhi Police plans to enlist Interpol’s help in investigating the threatening email case. Collaborative efforts between the police departments of Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi are underway to advance the investigation and ensure the safety of schools in the region.
