On Wednesday, following the tragic fire incident at Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak arrived at the hospital. He undertook a comprehensive assessment of the situation, ensuring he was informed about the condition of the patients affected by the incident.
Expressing grave concern over the mishap, Pathak emphasized that a high-level investigation is currently underway to ascertain the cause of the fire. He reassured the public and victims’ families, stating, “The culprits behind this tragedy will not escape justice.” Pathak delved into the specifics, mentioning that the site of the incident has been cordoned off for a thorough examination. He also confirmed that a rigorous fire audit across all government hospitals, including operation theaters in the state, is in progress.
During his visit, the Deputy CM interacted extensively with hospital management, gathering crucial insights about the sequence of events leading up to the fire. He underscored the importance of immediate actions, directing officials to take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
In a statement released post his visit, Pathak articulated, “Upon my arrival at SGPGI Lucknow today, I took a firsthand look at the accident site. My focus was not only on understanding the gravity of the situation but also on providing directives to officials to ensure such tragic events do not recur.”
The fire that erupted at Lucknow’s SGPGI earlier claimed the lives of three individuals, including two innocent children. The incident has shaken the community, prompting swift action and investigation by state officials to bring clarity and ensure accountability.
