DMK Leader’s Son Faces Allegations of Abusing 18-Year-Old House Help

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: A case has been registered against the son and daughter-in-law of DMK leader Karunanidhi, following allegations of abusing an 18-year-old girl employed at their residence, as reported by the police. Details surrounding the case are scant, with authorities stating that they have been unable to meet the victim.

“We have not been able to meet the girl. She’s being shielded. We don’t know why. It would be clear soon,” mentioned a police officer, refraining from disclosing more specifics about the ongoing investigation.

The victim, belonging to a scheduled caste and aspiring to pursue medical studies for the NEET entrance exam, had taken up domestic work to fund her NEET coaching. Employed at the house of the DMK leader’s son for the past year, the girl allegedly bore signs of physical harm, including injuries and suspected cigarette burns.

“The young lady was taken to an Ulundurpet hospital for treatment, and doctors there alerted the nearest police station. We are trying to speak to her to register a case. Neither she nor the family is accessible. We feel they are trying to avoid,” revealed an officer from the Neelangarai Police Station.

Addressing the allegations of cigarette burns, the officer stated, “Doctors say injuries are old. Only after investigation, we will get to know the facts.”

Kathir, the Executive Director of Evidence at a nonprofit organization, has called for a thorough investigation and stringent action against the accused couple.

While DMK leader Karunanidhi denies the allegations, branding them as “politically motivated,” the Chennai Police are diligently working to uncover the truth behind this distressing case.
