In a tragic yet heroic incident in Odisha’s Balasore district, a bus driver suffered a heart attack while transporting over 60 passengers from West Bengal to Panchalingeswar Temple. Despite his medical emergency, the quick-thinking driver managed to stop the bus, ensuring the safety of all passengers before succumbing to the heart attack.

The incident unfolded at Patapur Chhak early on Tuesday. According to preliminary information, the driver, identified as Sheikh Akhtar, experienced the heart attack while en route to the temple. Recognizing the severity of the situation, he promptly brought the bus to a halt on the side of the road and lost consciousness.

Panicked passengers immediately sought help from local residents, who rushed Akhtar to the nearby Nilgiri sub-divisional hospital. Tragically, doctors at the hospital declared him dead.

Amit Das, one of the passengers, recounted the sudden onset of the driver’s illness and praised his swift action. As the bus came to a stop, the driver fainted, prompting locals to rush him to the hospital, where medical professionals confirmed his demise.

The passengers and local residents expressed gratitude for the driver’s presence of mind, acknowledging that his decisive actions had prevented a potential catastrophe. Despite the unfortunate outcome, the driver’s selfless act stands as a testament to his dedication to passenger safety.
