In a distressing incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, a family has come forward with allegations of medical negligence and assault after their relative, Chandrapal Nishad, passed away at the LPS Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. The family, hailing from Fatehpur, claimed that Chandrapal, who was admitted due to chest pain, received inadequate attention from medical staff, ultimately leading to his demise.
Chandrapal’s son, Aditya, narrated a harrowing tale of confrontation with hospital staff when inquiring about the circumstances of his father’s death. According to Aditya, attempts to seek clarification from doctors resulted in verbal abuse and physical assault by junior doctors. The situation escalated further when the family tried to document the altercation, only to have their phones confiscated and to be subjected to further violence.
Upon involvement of the police, the family found themselves at a police station, facing threats and attempts to mediate a compromise. Meanwhile, Dr. Rakesh Verma, Director of Cardiology at the hospital, has taken cognizance of the accusations and initiated an internal investigation. A five-member team has been appointed to probe the allegations, with a report expected within two days, after which appropriate action will be taken.
