Five children killed after drinking contaminated water from borewell in Sindh, Pakistan

Pakistan: An official said that Five children of a family died in the Sanghar district of Sindh after drinking contaminated water from a borewell, according to the report of local news agency.

Pakistan: An official said that Five children of a family died in the Sanghar district of Sindh after drinking contaminated water from a borewell, according to the report of local news agency.

According to a statement from the deputy commissioner of Sanghar, the all kids, aged between four and eight, succumbed to poisoning after drinking water from a nearby hand pump in Sanghar.

The official said that after the incident, they were immediately rushed to the hospital where they complained of fever, diarrhea and vomiting. However, the children died during treatment, according to the local news agency.

Official added that the victims have been identified as Mureed Bhatti (8), Mumtaz (3), Rashid Ali (5), Sania (4), and Zamira (4).

After the programme, the Deputy Commissioner along with health officials visited the village and tested the water.

The District Health Officer had shut down the hand pump installed on agricultural land as a precautionary measure after confirming the presence of harmful elements in it.
