New Delhi: In California, a Google software engineer has been charged with murder in Santa Clara after he allegedly beat his wife to death and was found “spattered with blood” at their home. The Google engineer was 27-year-old. The Google engineer was identified as Liren Chen.
According to a statement by the district attorney’s office at the Santa Clara county, Liren Chen was found “spattered with blood” at his home and his wife’s body was in the bedroom. The statement added,”She had severe blunt force injuries to her head. Chen’s right hand was extremely swollen and purple. He had blood on his clothing, legs, arms, and hands and scratches on his arm.”
While the district attorney’s statements did not name Chen’s wife, several reports cited property documents and identified her as Juanyi Yu. Google confirmed to Fox News Digital that Chen and Juani Yu were employees of the tech giant at the time of the incident. The district attorney’s office said Chen has been charged with murder and faces prison if convicted.
He is currently in the hospital and has not been produced in the court yet. According to the statement, the police received a call from an acquaintance of Chen on Tuesday. When police arrived at the scene, the acquaintance told them that Chen was not answering his phone or the door.
He said he could see Chen inside and that he was “still on his knees, with his hands in the air and he was staring into the void”. Officers managed to enter the home and took Chen into custody. They found his wife’s body in the bedroom.
He has been working with Google as a software engineer since March 2020, according to Liren Chen’s LinkedIn profile. He is working on an algorithm for YouTube Shorts recommendation, according to the profile. Xuanyi Yu’s LinkedIn profile states that she joined Google in 2021 as a software engineer. Before this, she was working in Amazon. Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu are both alumni of Beijing University,according to their profiles.
