Gujarat: On Sunday, an official said that four members of a family have died after a fire broke out at their house in Devbhumi Dwarka district of Gujarat. Official added that the deceased include a seven-month-old daughter, husband-wife and grandmother.
After getting information about this incident, fire tenders and local police reached on the spot. Police inspector TC Patel said that the blaze erupted on the first floor of the house located on Aditya Road in Dwarka city at around 3.30 am when five members of the family were sleeping,
According to the police report, the people living in the house suffocated due to the smoke and haze caused by the fire and four people died. The family members could not escape as they failed to locate the exit door after the power supply to the house went off following the blaze, he said.
After receiving the information, firefighters reached the spot and found a couple, their 8-month-old daughter and the man’s mother lying unconscious on the first floor of the house. The official said that they were rushed to a government hospital where doctors declared them dead.
He said that the man’s grandmother, who was sleeping in a room on the ground floor of the house, survived safely. Officials said that The fire is suspected to have been caused by an explosion after the air conditioner overheated.
He said that forensic experts have been consulted to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Official said that the deceased have been identified as Pawan Kamlesh Upadhyay (30 years), Pawan Upadhyay (27 years), Dhyana Upadhyay (7-month-old girl), Pawan’s mother Bhaminiben Upadhyay.
