Lok Sabha Polls: In a strategic move ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress party has appointed former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as senior observers for the Rae Bareli and Amethi constituencies, respectively.
Sources within the party reveal that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has assumed a central role in spearheading the election campaign in both Rae Bareli and Amethi. With a focus on securing victory for the party, Priyanka Gandhi is set to lead an aggressive campaign, dedicating her time and efforts to rally support for Congress candidates in these pivotal constituencies.
This election marks a significant shift in the dynamics of the Amethi constituency, traditionally considered a stronghold of the Gandhi family. For the first time in years, the Congress has fielded a non-Gandhi candidate from Amethi, reflecting a strategic recalibration of electoral strategies. Formerly represented by Rahul Gandhi, the seat witnessed a historic defeat for the Congress leader against BJP’s Smriti Irani in the 2019 general elections.
Amidst these developments, Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma expressed determination to emerge victorious in the electoral battle against Smriti Irani. Sharma’s candidature signifies a departure from the Gandhi family legacy in Amethi, emphasizing his commitment to grassroots politics and service to the constituency.
