Gujarat: An official said that Seven people have been arrested in connection with the death of six people after drinking contaminated cough syrup in Kheda district of Gujarat on Friday.
Police further said that raids were conducted at seven places in Surat related to the cough syrup case and a total of 2195 bottles were seized. After the death of six people after drinking ayurvedic syrup in Kheda, the police has been deployed across Gujarat to nab those selling Ayurvedic syrup. After this, the Special Operation Group of Surat Police got a big success.
Rajdeep Nakum, DCP, SOG Surat said, “After the incident of the deaths of six people due to the drinking of Ayurvedic syrup in Kheda, police were deployed across Gujarat to arrest the sellers of Ayurvedic syrup. After this, the Special Operation Group of Surat Police has had great success. Surat Police has seized 2195 bottles.”
Police officials further said that one accused has been arrested from Godadara, two from Kapodra, two from Varachha, one from Poona and one from Amroli area.
The syrup which has been seized is being tested for alcohol content. DCP Nakum said,”The amount of alcohol in the syrup that has been seized is being investigated. An investigation will be started after the police submit the FSL report for all the seized syrups.”
