In a decisive late-night operation, the police in Junagadh, Gujarat, demolished an illegally constructed Dargah along with two temples. The law enforcement team, faced with challenges during a previous attempt to remove the Dargah last year, successfully executed the operation in the early hours of Saturday.
Demolish Dargah and Temples in Junagadh. The targeted Dargah, encroaching upon land at the Majwadi Gate, had been a source of contention for an extended period. The administration, supported by a substantial police presence, initiated the demolition process at 2 am, concluding by 5 am. Approximately 1000 police personnel secured the area, barricading it 300-400 meters away from the action site, leading to a temporary traffic halt.
Gujarat Police Take Late-Night Action to Demolish Dargah. The Dargah, which began construction nearly two decades ago near Majwadi Gate, had gradually expanded over time. Despite previous attempts to remove the structure, which was unlawfully built in the middle of the road, a police team faced resistance from locals in June of the previous year, resulting in injuries to several officers.
Following the successful demolition of the Dargah, the police heightened security measures in the town, closely monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents. Additionally, two illegal temples situated in different locations in Junagadh were also dismantled as part of the enforcement action.
