Gujarat: Gujarat Food and Drugs Department has achieved great success. The department has recently busted a fake medicine business by conducting raids across the state. In this raid, the department has seized a large quantity of fake medicines. Some of those arrested worked as medical representatives of ‘benami’ companies and used to deliver the fake medicines to doctors, officials said.

According to the information, the department has seized a large batch of fake antibiotic medicines which are used to treat life-threatening and serious diseases in Ahmedabad. Based on the information, the Food and Drugs Department conducted a raid in Khadia area of Ahmedabad on October 21. An investigation revealed that these medicines were fake and were manufactured by DG Pharmaceuticals based in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.

The Food and Drugs Department received information that Khimaram Sodaram Kumhar, who resided on the second floor of House No. 1722, Wada Pol, was keeping several fake medicines, after which the department conducted raids. In the raid, the department seized 99 boxes of POSMOX CV 625 (Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate with Lactic Acid Bacillus Tablet) medicine. When the department checked these medicines it came to know that all these medicines are fake. After this, the department interrogated the accused Khimaram. Khiraram told the inquiry that he had bought these medicines from Arun Kumar Rajendra Singh Amera, a resident of Rajnagar Society in Vatwa area of Ahmedabad. When the department questioned Arun Kumar Amera, he found out that this chain is quite long.

Arun Kumar said that he had bought these medicines from Vipul Degra, a resident of Shankutal Apartment in Isanpur area. Then the department carried out a raid, and after raiding the department, the department seized 5 fake antibiotic medicines separately, these goods were also seized. The department again interrogated Vipul to find out that these medicines were purchased from Darshan Kumar Praveenchandra Vyas, a resident of Parul Society in Navrangpura, without a bill. However, Darshan denied this, and further investigation is ongoing.

According to the information received, the department, after checking Vipul Degra’s mobile phone, found that she had supplied fake antibiotic medicines to doctors and various medical stores in different cities of the state, including Nadiad, Surat, in the state. , cities like Rajkot and areas like Danilimda, Sarkhez in Ahmedabad have seized a batch of fake antibiotic medicines and initiated further action for violation of Section 18(c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the rules thereunder.

Some of these people used to work as medical representatives of benami companies and deliver fake antibiotic medicines to doctors. However, for more information from these accused, they have been arrested and handed over to Isanpur Police Station. Also these medicines are used for life saving and treatment of serious diseases so the department will take legal action after the analysis report. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
