Chhattisgarh: On Thursday, police said that a constable belonging to the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF), serving as the gunman for a government officer in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon.
On Thursday morning, a police officer said that the body of Krishna Kumar Sahu was found in the guard room of the official residence of Kabirdham District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandeep Aggarwal.
After preliminary investigation, Sahu, who was in his late twenties and unmarried, purportedly used an AK-47 rifle to take his own life during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, police said. Senior police officials rushed to the spot after being alerted about the incident and the body was sent for post-mortem, he added.
Despite an exhaustive search, no suicide note was discovered at the site. He said that Sahu, who hailed from Bilaspur district, was deputed as the gunman of Kabirdham Zila Panchayat CEO since December 2022. The tragic incident follows a similar incident on February 10, in which another CAF constable responsible for security duties at the official residence of Chhattisgarh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dayaldas Baghel in the state capital Raipur allegedly fired shots from his service weapon. He took his own life by using it.
