Heavy Rains and flooding continue to havoc in East texas; Hundreds of Rescued and Evacuated

America: Flood havoc continues in America’s East Texas till Sunday afternoon. Due to waterlogging, life became abnormal. People’s rooftops are flooded with water. More than 600 people have been rescued from flooded areas around Houston. The risk of floods has further increased due to the forecast of more rain. The next round of heavy rain is expected from late night (Saturday) into Sunday, the National Weather Service said in a post on social media.

More than 21 inches (53 centimeters) of rain fell over the past five days near the town of Splendora, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) northeast of Houston, the weather service said, according to reports. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said at a news conference Saturday that about 180 people and 122 pets were evacuated from muddy water in several areas of the county. Local media reported more than 100 people rescued in Polk County and nearly 400 in Montgomery County.

According to reports, Judge Hidalgo described the flooding in the East Fork as ‘the worst flooding since Harvey.’ He ordered a mandatory evacuation of Houston areas along the East Fork of the San Jacinto River on Thursday and asked residents to leave their homes as soon as possible. Houston city officials said Saturday that the area received nearly four months’ worth of rain in just one week. No death or injury has been reported yet.
