Himachal Pradesh: NH 5 blocked due to landslide near Nigulsari area in Kinnaur district

New Delhi: On Friday, National Highway 5 has once again been closed due to a massive landslide near Nigulsari in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said that the traffic connectivity to Kinnaur and Spiti was cut off due to the landslide.

New Delhi: On Friday, National Highway 5 has once again been closed due to a massive landslide near Nigulsari in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said that the traffic connectivity to Kinnaur and Spiti was cut off due to the landslide.

National Highway Authority Executive Engineer KL Suman said, “The road has started caving in from the top at the landslide. A 380-meter stretch of NH-5 has been damaged due to the landslide.”

About 150 meters of the National Highway has completely sunk into the ground. Vehicular movement is completely stopped. There is no alternative route to go to Kinnaur.

Meanwhile, traffic connectivity of Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti with other states has also been cut off. Meanwhile, 10 passengers were injured when a bus overturned after hitting a tree in Theog sub-division of Shimla district on Friday, police said.

Police said the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a tree. The bus was on its way from Shimla to Tharoch when the accident took place.
