Hyderabad: A two and half-year-old girl was mauled to death by stray dogs while she was playing outside a construction site at Gayatri Nagar in Jeedimetla near Hyderabad where her parents worked.
The child’s elder sister fortunately escaped unharmed. According to police, the victim and her sister were attacked by two dogs. The family originally from Chhattisgarh had shifted to Hyderabad only five months ago for a livelihood.
Both the parents are daily wage workers. The incident took place on April 12. The deceased was identified as Deepali. She was severely injured and was rescued by locals. Police said that the quick action by the locals also saved the other child.
The Police officials said that the two and half-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital. However, due to the severity of the injuries, she was referred to another government hospital here, where she was declared dead.
They said that a case was registered and investigation is on. According to residents of Shapur Nagar, Jeedimetla, Qutbullahpur and the surrounding areas, people in these localities have been facing problems daily due to the stray dogs. In a similar distressing incident, a one-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Shamshabad in February this year.
