IMD issues heatwave alert in 6 states today, rain occurs in 25 states including Delhi-NCR

New Delhi. The heat is expected to remain low in Delhi-NCR even today. Today in Delhi, the sky will be generally cloudy and light rain or drizzle may occur. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 20.

IMD issues heatwave alert in 6 states today, rain occurs in 25 states including Delhi-NCR

New Delhi. The heat is expected to remain low in Delhi-NCR even today. Today in Delhi, the sky will be generally cloudy and light rain or drizzle may occur. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi can remain up to 37 degree Celsius on June 20. On June 19, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 34.5 degree Celsius, which was 4 degree Celsius less than normal. 5 mm in Delhi in the last 24 hours. Rain was recorded.

IMD has issued an Orange Alert regarding Thunderstorm in Western Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain with lightning and Heat Wave in Eastern UP. According to IMD, Monsoon has advanced into some more parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Conditions are favorable for further advance of Monsoon into some more parts of South India, some parts of Odisha, East Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days.

The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 20. Red Alert has been issued due to rain in these areas. According to IMD, heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, North-West Madhya Pradesh, Northeast Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu today.

Whereas in Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Rayalaseema, Puducherry and Karaikal, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Bihar, Odisha and Telangana, there may be rain with thunderstorms, lightning and thunder.The IAD has predicted heat wave conditions in isolated areas of Vidarbha, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and East Uttar Pradesh today. Orange alert has also been issued in these areas regarding the heatwave.

IAD predicted wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph along Gujarat coast, west central and southwest Arabian Sea, Kerala-Karnataka coast, Lakshadweep, southeast and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar and along and off Sri Lanka coast. There is a possibility of wind blowing at a speed of 65 km per hour. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas.
