IMD issues orange alert for MP and Odisha today, yellow alert issued for Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh till July 18. After this there is a possibility of reduction in rain. The IMD also said that active Monsoon conditions are likely to prevail over central and east India during the next five days.

Delhi: Monsoon season continues to rain in different parts of the country. From Himachal Pradesh to Uttarakhand and from Mumbai to Odisha, the condition is miserable due to rain. In Delhi, the water of Yamuna is not being mentioned at all. Schools are closed in many states due to rain and flood water.

The Meteorological Department says that active Monsoon conditions are likely to prevail over Central and East India during the next five days. Apart from this, there will be widespread rain with heavy rain, storm and lightning over the North-West region of the country.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh till July 18. After this there is a possibility of reduction in rain. The IMD also said that active Monsoon conditions are likely to prevail over central and east India during the next five days.

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain over the western region of the country. It also said that heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Konkan, Goa and Ghat regions of Maharashtra for next five days. The same weather pattern can be seen in Gujarat on 19th July.

A ‘yellow’ alert has been issued for rain in Delhi. It is facing floods as the water level in the Yamuna has crossed the danger mark following heavy rains for several days in the upper catchment areas. A ‘yellow’ alert warns of severe weather conditions that are likely to worsen and disrupt everyday activities.

The rains are expected to further increase the water level of the Yamuna, which has been flowing above the danger mark of 205.33 meters for the past few days. According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of Yamuna came down to 207.62 meters at 7 am on Saturday, which was at its peak of 208.66 meters at 8 pm on Thursday. According to the IMD, Delhi recorded 85 per cent relative humidity at 8.30 am on Saturday.

The rain in Himachal is not taking the name of stopping. The local meteorological office has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in 10 of the 12 districts of the state, except Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur, from July 15 to 17. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain.

Along with this, it has also predicted landslides, flash floods, and increase in the water level of rivers and streams. The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow’ alert warning of heavy rains on July 18. It has predicted rain in the state till July 21.

The state has received 284.1 millimeters (mm) of rain so far in July, which is 157 per cent more than the normal rainfall of 110.4 mm. Light to heavy rains are continuing in some parts of the state. Dharamsala in the state received 131 mm of rain. While Palampur received 51 mm, Sundernagar and Nahan (45 mm each), Kangra (27 mm), Mandi and Narkanda received 16 mm each.

There is no hope of relief from incessant rains in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in the state. The department says that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Haridwar, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the state. Orders have been issued by the administration to take precautions.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar and Dehradun on July 16 and 17, while on July 17, heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. The possibility of lightning has also been expressed along with heavy rain at some places.

If we talk about the eastern and northeastern parts of India, there will be very heavy rains. It was informed by the Meteorological Office that ‘heavy rains are expected in North East, West Bengal and Sikkim till July 16. Odisha is expected to receive heavy rains till July 18, while Jharkhand will receive heavy rains on July 16.

Light to moderate rain along with heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning are also likely over central India for the next five days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh till July 17. Chhattisgarh is also likely to receive heavy rains on July 17.
