IMD issues red alert for heavy rain in Uttarakhand for Wednesday

Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for July 12 amid heavy rains in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in a total of four districts of the state.

Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for July 12 amid heavy rains in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in a total of four districts of the state.

Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Sinha said that we are in alert mode regarding this. The CM had reviewed the preparations for the rain. That there has been only one unfortunate incident in which 4 people have died and 7 have been injured. Everything else is under control. We are constantly monitoring the situation.” Working to ensure the safety of the people.

Meanwhile, IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said, “A red alert for heavy rain has been issued for Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Apart from this, heavy rain is also expected in northwest UP. Rainfall has reduced significantly in Himachal and Delhi.” Light to moderate rain likely over NCR on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, four people were killed and 10 injured when debris fell on them near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said that the state administration is on full alert mode in view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning of heavy rain in the region.

Talking about the precautionary arrangements made in the state, CM Dhami said, “It faces natural calamities every year during monsoon. Excessive rainfall causes landslides and increases the water level of rivers. We are in full alert mode.

The CM said that all the district administration officers and our disaster management people are doing their work. All of them have been asked to be in alert mode to face any eventuality. Our other organizations are also working on this. NDRF, Army and our PWD department is ready to face any situation and we are in constant touch with people to help them in any situation.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also took stock of the current situation across the state by conducting a surprise inspection of the disaster control room located at Secretariat, Dehradun amid heavy rains across the state.
