IMD predicts moderate to heavy rain occurs in 19 states including Delhi today

New Delhi: In Delhi-NCR, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted light rain or drizzle today and the sky will be generally cloudy. In view of the possibility of very heavy rain, IMD has issued Orange Alert in Uttarakhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh today.

New Delhi: In Delhi-NCR, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted light rain or drizzle today and the sky will be generally cloudy. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), today the maximum temperature in Delhi can be 35 degree Celsius. On July 10, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 35.2 degree Celsius, which was 1 degree Celsius more than normal.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at different places in Uttarakhand on August 11. Along with this, very heavy rains are also expected in Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

In view of the possibility of very heavy rain, IMD has issued Orange Alert in Uttarakhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh today. Today, heavy to very heavy rain is expected at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Along with this, there is also a possibility of rain and thundershowers at isolated places in Jharkhand, Odisha, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. According to IMD, during August 11 to 14, there is a possibility of very heavy rains in southern parts of Uttarakhand, northern parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

Whereas on August 13, there may be heavy rains in Punjab and Haryana. According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is present over northeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northwest Bihar at the lower tropospheric level. Whereas the Monsoon Trough is located north of its normal position. It is very likely to remain north of its normal position over the foothills of Himalayas during next 4-5 days.

According to the IMD, a Western Disturbance in the form of a trough in the mid-tropospheric westerly winds is located roughly north of 64°E to 30°N.
