IMD predicts rain occurs in these 19 states today, Orange alert in these states

New Delhi: IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Uttarakhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on August 12. In Delhi-NCR today, the sky is expected to be generally clear and strong winds will blow during the day.

New Delhi: In Delhi-NCR today, the sky is expected to be generally clear and strong winds will blow during the day. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be up to 35 degrees Celsius today. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C on August 11, which was 1°C above normal.

IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Uttarakhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on August 12. In view of the possibility of very heavy rains, Orange Alert has been issued in Uttarakhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh today.

Today, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Apart from this, rain with lightning and thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal in South India today.

According to the IMD, a Cyclonic Circulation is present over Northeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar and a trough is running from East Bihar to Northwest Bay of Bengal in the lower tropospheric level. The Monsoon Trough is present north of its normal position. It is very likely to remain north of its normal position over the foothills of Himalayas during next 4-5 days and thereafter gradually move south towards its normal position.

At the same time, a Western Disturbance is being seen in the form of a trough in the mid-tropospheric westerly winds. These activities will have an impact on the weather in the coming times.
