In a recent development, the Punjab government has announced the appointment of senior advocate and additional advocate general Inderpal Singh, aged 60, as the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of the state. This appointment follows the conclusion of the term of former Director General of Police Suresh Arora, who served as the CIC, three months ago.

Inderpal Singh is New Chief Information Commissioner. Considered to be in close association with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Inderpal Singh, a senior advocate hailing from Hoshiarpur, brings a wealth of legal experience to the role. His legal journey, which began in 1989, includes notable positions such as being on the panel of the Union of India, serving as the standing counsel for the British High Commission, and holding the position of Vice-Chairman of the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council.

Inderpal Singh Appointed as Chief Information Commissioner of Punjab. The appointment of Inderpal Singh has received clearance from Governor Banwarilal Purohit. However, the date for the swearing-in ceremony is yet to be determined. The selection of Singh is seen as a significant move, underlining the government’s focus on legal expertise and experience in key administrative roles.
