IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings close to playoffs with seventh win, thrash Delhi Capitals by 27 runs

New Delhi: In the 55th match played at the MA Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai today under the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 27 runs. Chasing the target of 168 runs given by Chennai, the Delhi team was able to score only 140 runs and lost the match. Riley Rossouw scored the maximum 35 runs from Delhi. Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals Scoreboard

Earlier in the first innings, Chennai Super Kings set a target of 168 runs to win against Delhi Capitals. This time, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Chennai did not get the desired star.

Rituraj Gaikwad (24) and Atishi Devon Conway (10) were dismissed cheaply. Moeen Ali (7) also did not work, but one good thing with Chennai was that even though the rest of the batsmen did not play any big innings, there was a regularity in their performance. Rahane (21), Shivam Dubey (25), Ambati Rayudu (23), Jadeja (21), MS Dhoni (20) played useful innings. And with this, the Super Kings were able to reach 167 for 8 wickets in 20 overs of the quota. Mitchell Marsh took three, while Akshar Patel took two wickets. Khaleel, Lalit and Kuldeep got one wicket each.
