Jammu and Kashmir: On Friday, an official said that an Army vehicle came under terrorist attack in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. An encounter is underway. However, There are no reports of injuries or deaths so far.According to officials, an operation was launched following the event to ensure area security and track down the perpetrators.

Reports indicate that the terrorists managed to escape after the initial firing, which also included bullets fired from a nearby hill.The Army convoy that was attacked consists of several vehicles, acording to reports. A defence spokesperson has confirmed the incident, saying that details are currently being ascertained to get a clearer picture of what transpired.

However, media reports suggest that the firing was aimed at a cavalcade of vehicles of the security forces, traveling through the Krishnagati sector. The attack comes at a time when high-ranking officials, including Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, are in Poonch to develop strategies to deal with the frequent terror attacks.

The attack, which took place near the Line of Control, occurred on the Poonch-Mendhar road, situated between the Lower Krishna Ghati and Jhallas areas. This is the second such incident within a month. Earlier, four jawans were killed and three got injured when terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on December 21.

Following the attack, security forces were quick to act, initiating a search operation in the area to locate and apprehend the terrorists responsible. Gen Manoj Pande, Chief of Army Staff said that the situation in Rajouri-Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir is a matter of ‘concern’ and increasing deployment of troops, boosting intelligence and reaching out to the local people are part of the measures being initiated to prevent terrorist activities in the area.
