Jharkhand: 50 children and women fall sick after eating ‘pani puri’ in Koderma

Jharkhand: On Saturday, a police said that around 50 children and women fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after eating 'pani puri' from a roadside vendor in Koderma district of Jharkhand.

Jharkhand: On Saturday, a police said that around 50 children and women fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after eating ‘pani puri’ from a roadside vendor in Koderma district of Jharkhand.

Koderma Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) told the media that around 40 children and 10 women suffered from food poisoning after eating ‘Gol Gappa’ from a street vendor in Gosain Tola of Lokai Panchayat on Friday (October 20) evening.

The children and women developed problems like vomiting and diarrhea after consuming ‘golgappa’ (panipuri) and were diagnosed with bacterial infection, the officer said. He added that they were taken to Sadar Hospital, Koderma, where they are under observation for the last 24 hours.

He told that the age of the children are between 9 to 15 years and their condition is stable. He added that the remaining food items of the seller have been confiscated and the samples have been sent to Ranchi for testing.
