Jharkhand: CM Soren led-Govt reduces qualifying age for old-age pension from 60 to 50 years

Jharkhand: Among several major announcements on the fourth anniversary of his government, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the eligibility age for old-age pension would be reduced from 60 to 50 and 75% of jobs would be reserved for locals. In those companies which set up office in the state.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren made this announcement on December 29, 2023, Friday. He said that tribals and Dalits in the state will be eligible for pension benefits on reaching the age of 50 years. He also said that his government would reserve 75 percent jobs for local people in companies opening offices in the state.

Hemant Soren made this announcement while addressing a function organized at Morhabadi Maidan in Ranchi on the occasion of completion of four years of JMM-led government in the state. He argued that the government has decided to provide pension benefits to tribals and dalits on reaching the age of 50 years. Their death rate is high and they don’t get jobs after 60 years.

CM Soren claimed that in the 20 years after the formation of Jharkhand in 2000, only 16 lakh people got pension benefits, but his government has provided pension to 36 lakh people, most of whom are above 60 years of age. He said that in the four years of our government, we have given pension benefits to 36 lakh people above 60 years of age, widows above 18 years of age and physically challenged persons.

Soren said that his government is continuously working for the welfare of the people and a large number of schemes are being implemented for the first time, including his government’s program ‘Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar’, which is a government scheme. Why is the benefit being delivered at the rural doorstep?
