Jammu and Kashmir: On Thursday, An Indian Army soldier was killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in Naushera, Jammu and Kashmir due to a landmine explosion. An official said that another two got injured in this incident.

According to the information received by police the injured jawans have been airlifted to Udhampur for further treatment. The incident happened around 10:30 AM, about 300 metres from the Forward Defense Line (FDL) in the area of responsibility (AOR) of the 17th Sikh Light Battalion under the 80th Infantry Brigade.

An official said that the two Army personnel were conducting routine surveillance along the LoC when the explosion occurred. After the blast, both soldiers were quickly airlifted to the command hospital in Udhampur.

One of the jawans succumbed to his injuries, while the other is being treated for non-fatal wounds. This comes a month after five Army personnel were killed in an army truck ambush by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
