Nagpur: Over 50 sheep were crushed to death by a speeding truck on the Bhandara-Nagpur highway in Maharashtra. The incident took place under Mouda police station area of ​​Nagpur district.

According to the police, Goa Rabbani (53), a shepherd from Gujarat’s Kutch, was taking a flock of sheep towards Chapegadi Kuhi area at around 3.15 am when a speeding truck ran over them.

At least 50 sheep died on the spot, while 15 others were seriously injured, he added. The truck driver fled with the vehicle soon after the accident, he said.

Police said that the shepherd has suffered a loss of Rs five lakh in the accident. The police had registered a case under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
