In a recent incident, security personnel engaged in a fierce gun battle with Maoists in the dense Kamberikia forest area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The encounter resulted in the death of a high-ranking Maoist cadre from Chhattisgarh, affiliated with the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division.

Officials, who are familiar with the matter, revealed that the identity of the deceased Maoist is still unknown. The operation was carried out based on intelligence input, leading to a confrontation between the security forces and the Maoist group.

Unfortunately, during the exchange of fire, a security personnel sustained injuries and was subsequently admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur town, as confirmed by the police. The deceased Maoist was identified as a divisional committee member of the KKBN division, emphasizing the significance of the operation in curbing Maoist activities in the region.
