Tamil Nadu : Election officials in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, made a significant discovery on Friday night as they seized a whopping ₹1 crore in cash from a residence in Ettarai village. This startling find marks the first major cash seizure ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections in the state.
The operation was initiated following a tip-off to the election control room in the Trichy District Collectorate, sparking a swift response from the authorities.
District Collector Pradeep Kumar stated, “The Election Flying Squad officers swiftly acted on the information, entering the house at Ettarai village and conducting a thorough search. Their efforts led to the discovery of currency notes amounting to ₹1 crore, all found neatly packed in a bag.”
