Mexico: In yet another tragic incident, a bus carrying Mexicans and Venezuelan migrants collided into a freight truck Tuesday in central Mexico, killing 16 people and injuring 36, local authorities said. This road accident happened on the Cuiacopalan-Oaxaca highway in central Mexico.
Giving information about the incident on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, officials said that 16 people have died in a road accident in central Mexico. Earlier the death toll was said to be 15. Apart from this, the seriously injured include eight men and eight women, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
According to officials, accident happened when people were traveling in the bus. Then it collided with a trailer. The accident was so painful that 16 people died in it. On the other hand, as soon as the information about the accident was received, the rescue team reached the spot and took out the people trapped in the bus. Along with this the bus was removed from the spot.
Migrants frequently use trucks and buses to travel through Mexico to reach the U.S. border, and accidents involving those vehicles are not uncommon in Mexico.
Earlier similar accident happened in July in which five Honduran migrants were killed and another 18 injured when the van they were riding in crashed on a road on Mexico’s southern Gulf coast. In other incident in 2021 a truck carrying migrants overturned on a highway near the southern city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, killing 56 people.
