Mexico: Truck and van collision in northern Mexico, 26 people died due to fire

Mexico: A horrific accident took place in Mexico on Sunday. A passenger van and a truck collided on the Ciudad Victoria Highway in northern Mexico. 26 people died in this fiery crash.

Due to the vigorous collision, both the vehicles caught fire. However, it is not yet clear how many people were in the van. Police say that the death toll may increase.

The van belonged to a private transportation business and was carrying passengers, including children. Officials said the truck carrying the trailer was not at the accident site by the time the authorities reached there.

The officials are yet to ascertain the identities of all the deceased and are therefore unsure if the driver of the truck was also killed in the accident or if he has fled. The authorities have however recovered the national IDs of the deceased, most of whom are Mexicans.
