MI vs RR, IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets

New Delhi: In the 1000th match of the IPL, Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets and won their fourth win of the season. With this win, the Mumbai team has come to the seventh position in the points table. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 212 runs for seven wickets.

New Delhi: In the 1000th match of the IPL, Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets and won their fourth win of the season. With this win, the Mumbai team has come to the seventh position in the points table. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 212 runs for seven wickets.

In response, Mumbai won the match by scoring 214 runs in 19.3 overs. For Mumbai, Tim David ended the match by hitting three sixes in three balls of the 20th over. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings of 124 runs was wasted for Rajasthan. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav scored 55 runs for Mumbai. Apart from him, Tim David scored 45 runs and Cameron Green scored 44 runs.

Rajasthan Royals got off to a great start by winning the toss and batting first. The opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler took the team’s score past 50 runs within five overs. Rajasthan’s score after the powerplay was 65 for no loss. The foundation for a big score had already been laid.

However, Buttler was dismissed by Piyush Chawla in the eighth over. He scored 18 runs in 19 balls. Captain Samson, who came to bat at number three, could not do anything special either. He became the victim of Arshad Khan by scoring 14 runs in 10 balls. After this, Chawla made Devdutt Padikkal his second victim. Padikkal could score only two runs.

Apart from Jaiswal, no other batsman could do anything special for Rajasthan in this match. Jos Buttler was the team’s second highest scorer with 18 runs. Apart from these two, Sanju Samson (14 runs) and Jason Holder (11 runs) could touch the figure of ten. Arshad Khan took three wickets and Piyush Chawla took two wickets for Mumbai. At the same time, Jofra Archer and Riley Meredith got one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 213 runs, Mumbai did not start well. Captain Rohit Sharma was clean bowled by Sandeep Sharma after scoring three runs on his birthday. Sandeep dismissed him for the fifth time in the IPL. Cameron Greene and Ishaan Kishan then scored runs in quick succession. Both of them together took Mumbai’s score to 58 runs for one wicket till the end of the powerplay. Both scored 62 runs for the second wicket. Ishan Kishan became the victim of Ashwin by scoring 28 runs.

Tilak and David batted aggressively and took Mumbai to 181 runs after 18 overs. Mumbai needed 32 runs in the last two overs to win. Sandeep Sharma scored 15 runs in the 19th over and Mumbai needed 17 runs in the last over. In the first three balls of Jason Holder’s over, Tim David hit three sixes and gave Mumbai the win with three balls to spare. David scored 45 off 14 balls and Tilak remained unbeaten on 29 off 21 balls. Ashwin took two wickets for Rajasthan. Boult and Sandeep Sharma got one wicket each.
