The Enforcement Directorate (ED) issues fresh summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, requesting his appearance on January 27 and 31 for additional questioning in connection with the money laundering probe into an alleged land scam. Soren, who was questioned for nearly seven hours on Saturday after skipping seven previous summons, is required to provide clarifications on issues related to the ownership of a 7.16-acre land in Ranchi, allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime.
The ED’s investigation focuses on a money laundering case related to illegal land deals, including the alleged acquisition of the mentioned land through the illegal sale of army land. During the previous questioning on January 20, approximately 25-30 questions were posed to Soren, and the agency seeks further statements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Chief Minister claims a conspiracy against him following the ED’s visit.
The ED has arrested 14 individuals in connection with the case, including bureaucrat Chhavi Ranjan and businessmen Amit Agrawal and Bishnu Agrawal, who own shopping malls in Ranchi. Soren assures his supporters, stating that they are uniting the Opposition nationally and urging them not to be afraid.
In response to the ED’s summons, Chief Minister Hemant Soren claims that the case against him is unclear, and details of his assets have been publicly disclosed. Assuring them that they were moving forward united against the alleged conspiracy. He urged them to remain fearless and assured that he, as their leader, would face any challenges.
