Monsoon hit India today with its onset over Kerala after a week delay

The IMD had said on Sunday that there could be a delay of three to four days from the date of arrival of monsoon over Kerala. Normally, the southwest monsoon hits the state on June 1 with a standard deviation of about seven days.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given good news to the people on Thursday. In fact, after a delay of a week, the monsoon has reached Kerala. This is expected to provide relief to the people from the scorching heat.

Giving information earlier, meteorologists had told that cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ is affecting the intensity of monsoon. That’s why it will have a soft start in Kerala. However, today the Southwest Monsoon has arrived in Kerala. The IMD said the monsoon has advanced over some parts of South Arabian Sea and parts of central Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, most parts of Kerala and south Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar, southwest, central and northeast Bay of Bengal. has progressed.

Significantly, the IMD had said on Sunday that there could be a delay of three to four days from the date of arrival of monsoon in Kerala. The India Meteorological Department said in a statement on Sunday that conditions are becoming favorable due to the increase of westerly winds over the South Arabian Sea. Also, the depth of the westerly winds is gradually increasing and the depth of these winds has reached up to 2.1 km above the mean sea level. Monsoon may take three to four more days to hit the Kerala coast.

The cloud mass is also increasing in the southeast Arabian Sea, the department said. We expect these favorable conditions for the onset of Monsoon over Kerala to improve further during the next 3-4 days. It was being continuously monitored. However, the monsoon has now reached Kerala after a delay of about eight days.
