Betul: A bus filled with home guards and police personnel overturned in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, in which many soldiers were injured and suffered serious injuries. The injured are being treated in Shahpur Hospital and District Hospital. The Home Guard team was returning to Rajgarh after doing election duty in Chhindwara, during which this tragic accident happened. As soon as information about the incident was received, Betul SDOP Shalini Paraste reached the district hospital.
This incident happened at 4 am on Saturday morning at Baretha Ghat of National Highway in Shahpur police station area of Betul, when a bus filled with home guards and police personnel overturned. There were 40 soldiers in this bus, 21 of them were injured in the accident. 12 have been admitted to Community Health Center Shahpur with minor injuries, while 9 soldiers were seriously injured and have been admitted to District Hospital Betul.
“It happened when the bus carrying a total of 40 jawans, including five policemen and remaining home guard, was on its way to Rajgarh after their election duty in Chhindwara,” she said.
Eight of the personnel who received serious injuries are being treated in the district hospital at Betul, while those with minor injuries are being treated in Shahpur hospital, the police official said.
The incident took place when the bus swerved to avoid a truck that crossed its path, she said.
Polling for the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat was held on Friday.
