MP Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Former Kamal Nath Ally, Deepak Saxena, Set to Join BJP

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath faces a significant setback as Deepak Saxena, a close associate, prepares to join the BJP today. Saxena, along with over a dozen workers, is expected to officially switch sides, departing from Chhindwara for Bhopal at 10 am. Despite efforts by Kamal Nath and five MLAs to dissuade him, Saxena’s defection underscores growing discontent within the Congress ranks, particularly in Chhindwara, a stronghold of Kamal Nath.

Deepak Saxena, Set to Join BJP

Deepak Saxena’s allegiance shift marks a pivotal moment, considering his past loyalty to Kamal Nath. Notably, Saxena vacated his legislative seat to facilitate Kamal Nath’s by-election victory when he assumed the CM office in 2019. Once regarded as a key figure in Chhindwara’s political landscape, Saxena played a crucial role in implementing strategic initiatives for both the party and the government.

Having served as PHE minister during the Digvijay Singh government, Saxena’s departure represents a significant blow to the Congress, which has already witnessed an exodus of over two thousand workers, officials, and a sitting MLA to the BJP. Saxena, who held various leadership positions within the Congress, including State Vice President and Secretary, now stands poised to align with the BJP, potentially reshaping the political dynamics in Madhya Pradesh.

As the MP Lok Sabha Elections 2024 loom, Saxena’s defection underscores the challenges faced by Kamal Nath and the Congress party, while bolstering the BJP’s prospects in the region. With Saxena’s departure, the BJP stands to gain not only a seasoned politician but also a significant foothold in Kamal Nath’s stronghold, potentially tilting the electoral balance in its favor.
