MS Dhoni’s famous composure and calm demeanor extend beyond the cricket field. Even when witnessing historic events, his reactions remain understated. As India’s Chandrayaan-3 achieved the remarkable feat of landing on the unexplored south pole of the moon, Dhoni’s reaction was typically subtle.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Dhoni, dressed in a tank t-shirt and shorts, was seen calmly clapping his thigh while others around him erupted in applause. The video, which lasted for seven seconds and did not show Dhoni’s face, was enough for fans worldwide to identify the cricket legend.

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team, currently in Ireland for a T20I series, also celebrated the moon landing. Images and videos of players like Jasprit Bumrah watching the event ahead of their match in Dublin went viral. Although the match was eventually canceled due to rain, the visuals of Indian cricketers celebrating the moon landing were heartwarming.
Comprising a lander (Vikram) and a rover (Pragyan), Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the lunar south pole at 6:04 pm. With this achievement, India joined the ranks of the US, China, and the former Soviet Union as the fourth country to master the technology of soft landing on the moon.
Following the soft landing, the rover module, Pragyan, will embark on a 14-day mission to conduct experiments mandated by ISRO scientists. Its tasks include further exploring the lunar surface and conducting experiments to enhance our understanding of it.
With the Vikram Lander ensuring a secure touchdown, the most challenging phase of the mission is complete. The rover Pragyan, located within the lander, will soon carry out a series of experiments on the moon’s surface.
