Mumbai: Man booked for obscene comment on Facebook against CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai: An official said that Mumbai Police has registered a case against a person for allegedly posting an obscene comment against Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on social media platform Facebook.

As per the information provided by the official on Saturday, a 56-year-old woman who filed the complaint stated that the obscene comment was posted on a Facebook account registered in the name of a Shiv Sena (UBT) activist. According to the police, the complainant is the coordinator of the CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena for the Andheri assembly constituency.

The official said, “She came across the obscene comment while reading a news report online. The post was intended to insult the modesty of a woman”. Acting on the woman’s complaint, the authorities have filed a case under the Indian Penal Code sections 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 153-A (1) (promoting enmity between two groups), and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act, he said.

Notably, within the span of three days, this is the second instance in which offenses have been registered against activists associated with Shiv Sena (UBT). Meanhwile, in another incident between the two Sena faction, Aaditya thackeray lashed out at Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde after an FIR was registered against him for illegally inaugurating the Delisle Road Bridge in Lower Parel.
