Odisha CM Patnaik to inaugurate Bhubaneswar metro rail project worth Rs 5,900 crore on Jan 1, 2024

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also approved the detailed project report (DPR) of more than Rs 5,900 crore related to the metro rail. Work on the project will commence soon and a target has been set to complete it in 48 months.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will soon get metro rail as the construction work will embarks next year. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone of Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project on January 1 next year. Officials gave this information on Saturday. He said that Patnaik has also approved the detailed project report (DPR) of more than Rs 5,900 crore related to the metro rail, which will be borne by the state government.

According to an official, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone of this project on January 1, 2024. He reviewed the status of the first phase of the Metro Rail project and approved the DPR. The official said that the DPR with a total cost of Rs 5,929 crore has been approved, the entire cost of which will be borne by the state government.

Work on the project will start soon and a target has been set to complete it in 48 months. Chief Minister Patnaik said, Bhubaneswar Metro is a historic project for Odisha. This will further strengthen the public transport service in the city and expedite its economic development.

The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation is a fully owned entity of the Odisha government. The BMRC has been newly incorporated under the Companies Act. It has started functioning.

The officials said a high-level committee has also been formed to oversee the expeditious engagement of an executing agency for the project.

He told that this metro rail project to be built from Trisulia Square to Bhubaneswar Airport will have a total of 20 stations.
