Prof RK Dhiman, Director of SGPGIMS Lucknow, Honored for Contributions in Medical Sciences.
Lucknow: In a noteworthy announcement on the eve of Republic Day, Professor RK Dhiman, the Director of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, has been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award. Prof Dhiman’s recognized work includes the eradication of Hepatitis C in 22 districts of Punjab, commendable Covid management in Lucknow, and the initiation of an organ donation campaign through the establishment of SOTTO.A total of 12 individuals from Uttar Pradesh were honored with the Padma Shri on the eve of Republic Day.
Renowned brass Marori craftsperson Babu Ram Yadav, with over six decades of expertise in crafting intricate brass artifacts, also received the Padma Shri. Yadav expressed joy over the recognition of his art, emphasizing the significance of the award in his long and distinguished career.
The list of Padma Shri awardees from Uttar Pradesh includes individuals from various fields, showcasing the diversity of talent in the state. The awardees encompass Khalil Ahmad, Naseem Bano (art), Ram Chet Chaudhary (science and engineering), Radha Krishan Dhiman (medicine), Rajaram Jain (literature and education), Gaurav Khanna (sports), Surendra Mohan Mishra (posthumously for art), Radhe Shyam Pareek (medicine), Navjivan Rastogi (literature and education), Godawari Singh (art), Urmila Srivastava (art), and Babu Ram Yadav (art).
Expressing his happiness, Prof RK Dhiman stated that the award serves as inspiration to work even harder, emphasizing the acknowledgment of his efforts in various medical initiatives. Babu Ram Yadav, the Marori craftsperson, expressed his joy over the recognition of his art, reflecting the sentiments of all awardees.
