PM Declares ₹2 Lakh Compensation for Andhra Train Tragedy Victims’ Families

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund for the families of each deceased individual and ₹50,000 for those injured in the Andhra Pradesh train accident, as conveyed by the PMO Office.

“The Prime Minister has pledged a compensation of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF to the families of the deceased resulting from the train derailment between Alamanda and Kantakapalle section. The injured will receive ₹50,000,” as disclosed by the PMO Office on X.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund for the families of each deceased individual and ₹50,000 for those injured in the Andhra Pradesh train accident, as conveyed by the PMO Office.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed the transfer of all injured individuals to various hospitals for treatment and has announced compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased.

In his statement, Mr. Vaishnaw said, “All injured have been shifted to hospitals, and ex-gratia compensation disbursement has commenced with ₹10 Lakh allocated in case of death, ₹2 Lakh for grievous injuries, and ₹50,000 for minor injuries.”

Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to assess the situation after the train derailment between the Alamanda and Kantakapalle section in Andhra Pradesh.

The tragic accident occurred when coaches derailed after the Visakhapatnam-Ragada passenger train collided with another Visakhapatnam-Ragada train traveling on the same route in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district on Sunday evening, resulting in six fatalities and 18 injuries, according to officials.

In response, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy promptly ordered immediate relief measures and the dispatch of numerous ambulances from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, the nearest districts to Vizianagaram. The Chief Minister’s Office posted on X (formerly Twitter), The Chief Minister has issued orders to coordinate other government departments, including health, police, and revenue, to expedite relief efforts and ensure that the injured receive prompt medical attention.
