New Delhi:With the IMD forecasting extreme heat conditions across the country during the forthcoming summer season this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday held a high-level meeting to review preparedness for the hot weather conditions during the upcoming summer season.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s residence, 7 LKM, and was attended by Principal Secretary to the PM; Cabinet Secretary; Home Secretary; Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; Secretary Department of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare; Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences; and Member Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

He has instructed the IMD to release the daily weather forecast in an easy way. Along with this, TV news channels, FM radio have been instructed to spend a few minutes daily to explain the weather forecast in this way. This will increase awareness among the citizens. The Food Corporation of India has been asked to ensure grain storage in adverse weather conditions.

Prime Minister was briefed about the preparedness of states and hospital infrastructure in terms of availability of required supplies and preparedness for emergencies.

It was also instructed to incorporate some multimedia lecture sessions in schools to sensitise children on dealing with extreme heat conditions. Prime Minister said that protocols and dos and don’ts for hot weather should be prepared in accessible formats, and various other modes of publicity like jingles, films, pamphlets etc. should also be prepared and issued.
