Goa : In a bid to sway voters ahead of the third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver a rally in Goa today. With anticipation building, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expects a turnout of over 50,000 attendees, underscoring the significance of the event.
PM Modi’s rally, scheduled for April 27, will be held in Vasco town in South Goa, targeting voters in the coastal state. The rally assumes particular importance as it precedes the crucial third phase of the elections.
In Goa’s electoral landscape, two parliamentary constituencies are at play. The South Goa constituency sees entrepreneur Pallavi Dempo contesting on the BJP ticket, while the North Goa seat witnesses a battle between sitting MP and Union Minister Shripad Naik of the BJP and former Union Minister Ramakant Khalap of the Congress.
Preparations for PM Modi’s rally are in full swing, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant personally overseeing arrangements at the venue located near Vasco town. Senior BJP leaders, including party general secretary B L Santhosh, have convened to ensure meticulous planning.
CM Sawant expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects, asserting that both Lok Sabha seats in Goa are within reach. He cited overwhelming responses from voters and reiterated faith in PM Modi’s leadership and the policies of the central government.

Meanwhile, controversies have surfaced in the electoral fray, with Congress candidate Viriato Fernandes drawing criticism for his remarks regarding the Indian Constitution’s imposition on Goa post-liberation from Portuguese rule in 1961. BJP MLA Sankalp Amonkar filed a police complaint against Fernandes under the Prevention of Insults to the National Honour Act, alleging disrespect toward the Constitution.
