Probe agency ED summons Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav for questioning in Land-For-Jobs Case

New Delhi: On Saturday, The Enforcement Directorate issued a fresh summons to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister in a railway land-for-jobs scam case. He has been summoned for questioning in money laundering case in land scam in lieu of railway job. Tejaswi Yadav has been asked to appear before the agency on January 5.

On the other hand, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has accepted his plea seeking to travel abroad. He was earlier called to appear on December 22 but the 34-year-old skipped the summons. He had called the ED notice a routine affair. Tejashwi Yadav has sought permission from the court to travel to Australia and New Zealand from January 6 to 18 next year.

Earlier, ED had ordered Tejashwi Yadav to appear before the agency on December 22 and his father RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on December 27. However, Tejashwi ignored the December 22 summons and did not appear before the agency. The alleged scam pertains to the period when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the railway minister in the UPA-1 government.

Notably, in October, former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Yadav, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and RJD MP Misa Bharti got relief. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court had granted bail to the four in the alleged land-for-hire scam case. It is alleged that from 2004 to 2009, several people were handed out Group “D” category jobs in various railway zones after they transferred land to the family members of the railway minister, Mr Prasad, and a linked company named A K Infosystems Private Limited.
