Production from coking coal mines will start by 2025.

New Delhi:The Ministry of Coal has set a target of producing 1.31 billion tonnes of coal by FY2025 and 1.5 BT coal in FY2030. Ministry of Coal says that it will start additional 19 first mile connectivity projects for Coal India Limited and SCCL. It will have a capacity of 330 million tonnes (MT) and these projects will be implemented by the financial year 2026-27.
Domestic raw coking coal production likely to reach 140 million tonnes (MT) by 2030 with these measures being taken by Ministry of Coal under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

At present, domestic raw coking coal washing capacity is about 23 MT per annum, including 9.26 MT of the private sector.
The ministry has drawn up a strategy to eliminate road transport of coal from mines. For this, the Union Ministry of Coal is working on first mile connectivity and strengthening of rail network in coal areas. This will ensure smooth and environment-friendly extraction of coal in future.
