Protests Over Adani Row Again Disrupts Parliament, proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned

The Opposition members have been demanding a discussion on the Hindenburg report and the massive decline in share prices of Adani Group companies.

New Delhi : Proceedings in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned as ruckus erupted again today over the Adani row. The Lok Sabha will resume at 2 pm while the Rajya Sabha will meet again at 2:30 pm. The Opposition members have been demanding a discussion on the Hindenburg report and the massive decline in share prices of Adani Group companies. They have also sought inquiries by a joint parliamentary committee inquiry or a Supreme Court-monitored panel into this.

Opposition in the Rajya Sabha submitted 15 notices under Rule 267 to debate the Adani group-Hindenburg issue, six of these notices were filed by Congress MPs. But Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar adjourned the House for the first half of the day. Both Houses were adjourned for the first half of the day, minutes after the proceedings began.

However, as slogan shouting and protests continued, he adjourned the House till 2 p.m.

The Rajya Sabha too was adjourned till 2.30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, leaders of 16 like-minded parties had met in Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge’s chamber in Parliament to discuss today’s strategy in the two Houses.

The Budget Session of Parliament commenced on January 31 and will continue till April 6 with 27 sittings spread over 66 days with the usual recess.
