Punjab: An official said that two inmates dead and several others injured after a violent clash broke out between prisoners in a jail in Sangrur district of Punjab late Friday night.
The inmates who died were identified as Harsh and Dharmender. According to police, Gagandeep Singh and Mohd Sehwaz injured prisoners is said to be critical and they have been referred to Patiala for better treatment.
A senior official said that they were investigating the cause of the clash. the official said,”We are investigating what led to the clashes between prisoners. Four inmates were injured in the incident, two of whom later succumbed at a hospital.”
About this incident, a doctor at a government hospital in Sangrur said four inmates were brought to the hospital, of which two of them were declared brought dead. He also said the two injured inmates were referred to a hospital in Patiala.
The doctor further said that the injured, Singh and Shahbaz have injuries on their backs, heads, arms and ears caused by a sharp object. A police official said further investigation in the matter is underway.
