Punjab: Youth,19, beaten to death for ‘sacrilege’ at gurdwara in Ferozepur

Punjab: An official said that a 19-year-old youth was beaten to death for at a gurdwara in Punjab for allegedly tearing pages of the holy Guru Granth Sahib. The alleged sacrilege occurred in Bandla village.

Punjab: An official said that a 19-year-old youth was beaten to death for at a gurdwara in Punjab for allegedly tearing pages of the holy Guru Granth Sahib.

The alleged sacrilege occurred in Bandla village. This incident happened when he entered the premises of the gurdwara and allegedly tore some pages of the holy book. He was immediately caught by the people and beaten to death.

After the incident, Police have filed an FIR against the Bakshish for the alleged sacrilege, according to the report. According to police, the situation worsened when Bakshish tried to escape by tearing the pages.

Police said he was caught by locals, who gathered at the gurdwara after getting information about the incident, and beat Bakshis badly. After receiving information about this incident Senior police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Saumya Mishra, arrived at the scene.

On a complaint by Lakhvir Singh, president of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, the police have registered an FIR against Bakshish Singh under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the father of Bakshish, Lakhwinder Singh said he was mentally ill and was undergoing treatment. Expressing grief over the police action against his son, Lakhwinder Singh demanded action against those responsible for his son’s death.
